Day 1 Mandalay Arrive Mandalay, met by our western guide and local mini-van driver. Transfer to hotel to relax for a few hours. Then we will visit Mandalay Hill to view the sunset over the city . Day 2 Amarapura and Sagaing Drive to Amarapura and visit Mahagandayon Temple home to several thousand novice monks then on to Sagaing to explore the multitude of temples and pagodas that scatter the surrounding hills. Finally return to Mandalay via the U Bein bridge to witness local life coming and going on the bridge. Day 3 Mandalay Today enjoy a tour of the city including the Mandalay Palace and Kuthodaw Pagoda. Evening a cultural show with dinner. Day 4 Bagan Drive from Mandalay to Bagan passing through small villages and watching life pass by. Arrive in Bagan and rest before visiting the Ayeyerwady River. Day 5 Bagan In the morning a visit to Nyang U Market and Shwezigon Pagoda. Later tour around the greater Bagan historical zone, the site for over 2,000 temples and religious structures, some complete, others in ruins. Day 6 Inle Lake Morning at leisure Then we will fly from Bagan to Heho, before driving to Inle Lake famous for the Intha leg rowers. Check into our hotel situated near the lake . Day 7 Inle Lake Relax, while being paddled around the lake by one of the famed Intha leg-rowers who wrap one leg around the oar, watch in awe at this fabulous technique. Out on the lake see the floating gardens and Inpawkhon weaving village . Day 8 Inle Lake A choice of relaxing on the lake or explore the crumbling Shwe Indein Pagoda complex. Walk thru the rice paddies to see locals farming using traditional methods. Day 9 + 10 Drive to Yangon Two days will be spent driving through the countryside to Yangon stopping on the way to witness traditional Burmese life, that in many places has not changed in decades. These two days will have a maximum of four and half hours a day in the vehicle, the rest of the day will be spent exploring small towns and the local way of life . Day 11 Yangon Explore Yangon, under the British known as Rangoon. Board a local train slowly moving on a circuit round the city .Evening stroll around Chinatown and thru the lively night market. Day 12 Yangon Walking tour of Yangon, admiring the majestic old colonial architecture and the even more impressive Sule Pagoda . Then finally time to browse the Bogyoke Market for some gifts to take home. Late afternoon, off to explore Shwedagon Pagoda the most sacred buddhist site in the country Day 13 Yangon Morning at leisure before transfer to airport, where tour comes to an end. |
